THE SOKE MENKYO KAI
PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS AGREEMENT
NOTICE:
UPON APPLYING FOR ACCREDITATION AS A SOKE OR FOR A TITLE, YOU ARE AUTOMATICALLY AGREEING TO THIS PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS AGREEMENT.
Upon my accepting of any sokeship accreditation and or titles from The Soke Menkyo Kai. I hereby agree to the following:
1.
I will not issue, nor accept cross-grade certification from anyone.
Translation: Sometimes masters will give dan grades out to other masters and ask for same in return although neither has studied the others art/way.
2.
I will not accept any association grades.
Translation: Sometimes upon joining martial arts associations, new members are given rank or may apply for rank in a system they never trained in.
3.
I will only use the “RED BELT” or “GOLD BELT” for 9th – 10th Dan degrees or titles of Hanshi and above.
4.
I understand that I cannot be promoted in my own art/way.
Translation: Some schools utilize red and gold belts as student (Kyu) or mudansha grades. Red and Gold belts are reserved for the highest grades in the martial arts. Not some child who is not even a teenager.
5.
I understand that 10th Dan/Degree is the highest grade and that I will not accept/ earn, nor have anything to do with anything above tenth dan/degree.
6.
I will not promote children to black belt.
Translation: We at the SMK still value the old ways. Children may obtain dojo black belt “Yudansha – Ho” grades up to Sandan – Ho. Meaning third degree black belt in ho grades only. As soon as the child steps out of the school, visits another school or enters a tournament, he/she must do so as a kyu / student grade. Upon reaching 18 years of age or older (24 would be a great age to transition from Sandan – Ho to a full Sandan). the Sensei / Shihan or Soke will then decide if the (Now adult will receive his/her full black belt grade. A general rule to follow for black belts is as follows.
A. Must be an adult.
B. Must be able to win or tie in sparing with another adult black belt.
C. Must be able to win against any adult man that has no martial skill.
TRANSLATION: Eight year olds cannot beat an adult male that has no training in fighting whatsoever. So they should never get a black belt. Shodan – Ho through Sandan – Ho should only be issued to mid to late teens if they can meet every requirement for the grade(s).
7.
I fully understand that if accredited a Soke Shodai. That does not make me a tenth (10th) dan/degree. I further understand that as head of my own system, I cannot receive rank/grades in it.
But as head of the system I can issue accredited grades and titles up to and including tenth dan in “My” martial art.
I also understand that anyone with 10th dan SMK accreditation received it in another system or reached 10th dan and inherited the system. Which would give them “Head Family” status.
8.
Because I have received legitimate accreditation, I will refrain from joining martial arts organizations that are not legitimate. Especially those that issue recognition and not accreditation.
9.
I will conduct myself morally and professionally at all times refraining from any form of drug/alcohol abuse or illegal activities. I further understand that my family and job are first and foremost over the martial arts/ways.
10.
If I am found to be violating any of the above, I will be allowed to answer for the violations I may have committed or resign and return all accreditation without refund. If found guilty I will also return all accreditation to the SMK without refund. This includes all SMK patches as well.
11.
As a Soke Heir or Shodai (Founder) I agree to register my Soke Dai with the SMK.
12.
Forbidden Memberships: I understand that as a SMK member, I will refrain from membership in anything (Group or organization) that is violent and against any human life.
This includes ANTIFA, KKK and any / all groups similar in nature.
